As humans we let others know only what we want them to know. We have bartered truth for lies. We hide things from each other and play a game of hide and seek, that we may never win. We lie to keep the truth beneath the surface and become accustomed to the lies. But, there comes a time when we must face the truth, even though it may surely hurt us. And, when we allow it, the truth can sink into us like a venomous snake sinks its’ fangs into its prey. Painfully, the reality of it all drives into us causing a suffering that impairs us. Like poison running through us, it affects and taints our blood, our mind, and wellness.
But, we must keep in mind that we have the ability to suck the poison out, accept the truth and deal with it in our way and manner. We must take the poison and spit it out, therefore freeing ourselves from dwelling in the pain the bite brought upon us. We must learn to free ourselves from the affliction. Of course, every wound leaves a scar; just as every truth leaves a mark within us that we must learn to live with. The scar that remains is a constant reminder of the occurred, but we must learn to formulate what we have learned into a guide for our future endeavors. Allowing ourselves to use the pain of the past, to shield from being hurt in the future, will help us become stronger individuals ready for what’s in store for us.
